Bookkeeping starts with someone else’s paperwork
Until a client’s statements and bills arrive, the month can’t be finished. Verisa exists for the part of the job that happens before the job.
Why it exists
Ask a bookkeeper how month-end goes and the hard part usually isn’t the bookkeeping. It’s the spreadsheet of who has sent what, the inbox search for a statement that may have arrived, and the fourth polite email to someone who has stopped reading them.
That work is repetitive and hard to bill for, and it’s the same every month. So Verisa takes one narrow job: know what each client owes you, show who’s behind, and put the right words in front of you when it’s time to ask again.
Who it’s for
Independent bookkeepers and small practices who look after a list of small businesses, each with their own paperwork habits. If you’ve ever kept a colour-coded sheet called “chasing”, this is for you.
An old idea
Offices solved a version of this problem a century ago with the visible file: shallow steel trays of overlapping cards, where only the bottom edge of each card showed. You could read a whole customer list without taking a card out.
A 1950 US patent by Willard Dale Wassell describes a coloured plastic signal clipped to that edge and moved along a printed scale, such as the days of the month, to mark when something fell due. One look down the tray told you what needed attention.
The tray on our home page works the same way. Each client is a strip, and the red signal sits at how many days late they are. It’s the fastest way we know to answer “who’s behind?”
Where it stops
- It doesn’t do your bookkeeping or replace your accounting software.
- It doesn’t give tax or accounting advice.
- It’s designed so that nothing goes out before you’ve read it.
- It doesn’t decide when to pick up the phone. You know your clients.
Where it stands
Verisa is a website and a working sample board. The sample runs in your browser. There are no accounts, no email sending, no file uploads and no prices yet, and the site doesn’t pretend otherwise.
The most useful thing you can do is try the sample board and tell us what’s wrong with it: verisa848@gmail.com.
